What is Look Beyond?
Look Beyond is a Capital Stewardship Journey that Southwood launched in February 2008. It is an effort to take the largest step possible toward eliminating the debt on our new church building, so that more of the resources Southwood's people give to the church can be used to maximize ministry and mission, and less spent on interest payments on the mortgage.
Where are we now? (as of 3/31/09)
- 360 households made commitments to Look Beyond
- $1,884,000 in total commitments have been made to Look Beyond
- $638,295 has been collected during the first 11 months
- 112 people who did not fill out commitment cards have given $50,941
- 19 members have paid their 3 year commitment in full
- Southwood tithes 10% of campaign income to missions (click here for details)
- So far, Southwood has paid $300,000 in principal payments from the Look Beyond funds
Why Look Beyond now?
We are preparing for our future. We want to be good stewards of the gifts and resources given to us, and the less we spend on interest, the more we will have to reach out and serve more people in our community and around the world.
What does Look Beyond mean for me?
As part of Look Beyond, we are asking every family in our church to prayerfully consider making a sacrificial commitment, over and above ongoing tithes and offerings, to be given over the next three years.
