An hour a week can change a life. TeamMates mentors spend one-on-one time with an elementary, middle or high school youth -- just one hour a week during the course of a school year. Youth who are mentored receive support and guidance from a caring adult and show measurable improvement in academic achievement, attendance and disicpline referrals. Mentored youth are more likely to stay in school and graduate and show improvement in interpersonal relationships. Find out what a difference
an hour can make.
City Impact seeks to minister God's love to Lincoln's urban neighborhood. They do just that through Tuesday Night Bible Clubs that help 125 children and youth grow in their faith and in social and life skills. At City Impact's new Impact Learning Center, adult reading mentors spend one-on-one time using a proven curriculum to increase kids' reading skills -- as much as one grade level in only 9-weeks! Find out more about how you can get involved at City Impact!
Clinic With A HeartClinic With A Heart is a free medical clinic at 3910 N. 27th Street staffed entirely by volunteers. Southwood partners with CWAH by staffing the clinic on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. No medical background is required to be a part of the clinic -- just a love for people and a heart for serving. Non-medical volunteers help with greeting, registration, traffic flow, childcare, and hospitality. Contact Jo Sheets to learn more.
Each month several people from Southwood serve at Center for People In Need (3901 N 27th St). They sort large quantities of corporate donations, which are then distributed free of charge to human services agencies in Nebraska and the surrounding area. Watch the Calendar of Events for future serving dates, or contact Merlyn Schuster for more information.
