Changes due to COVID-19:
To protect everyone’s health and safety, all choirs are currently on hold. We’re referencing these guidelines in our decision making. We look forward to reintroducing our choirs when we can sing safely together.
"We offer music as a vessel, to speak to those present, praying that God would be glorified through all that we do."
—Denise Makinson, Director of Music Ministries

God's Spirit moves through the music at Southwood. Ask anyone who has worshiped here regularly, and they will note how the music at Southwood is a unique blessing, and we the congregation join in the praises.

Southwood's choir are not performers; they are ministers of music. Yes, the performance quality is top notch, but God works through the choir community to communicate something unique and different each Sunday. In the congregation you might sense the difference in a choir who comes together as a community for Bible Study of the text used in the anthems and hymns. As you leave a worship service at Southwood, not only will you have a more peaceful mind, somehow cleared and renewed through worship, you might just have a new tune in your heart and a tap in your toes.

Choirs at Southwood are open to anyone who loves to sing or wants to ring handbells. There are no auditions and you are welcome to join at any time. Joining a choir is the best way to get connected into the music ministry. Opportunities for deeper involvement in the music ministry such as singing in a small group are often drawn from those participating in the choir.

If you are a musician interested in participating in music ministry in some way, contact Denise Makinson to get involved.
