High School Youth

Changes due to COVID-19:
All in-person activities have resumed. We will be consistent with LPS policies and local camping programs in our youth and children’s ministries.

The more we learn to love our relationship with God, the better we get at all our relationships. This is key as high schoolers navigate this place between childhood and growing independence. Southwood’s high school programming offers each youth a place to enter no matter his or her level of interest, in ways that can work with even the busiest schedules, through unique and engaging activities that build on community, both inside and outside the walls of Southwood Lutheran Church. In all of it a community forms that brings our youth to a deepening level of love for God and love for others.

Sunday Nights

During the school year youth meet for a weekly gathering from 6:00–8:00 p.m. This welcoming, open, and inclusive community engages students in thoughtful discussion of faith and life, service/social justice work, deep relationships, and opportunities to work together to create a place of support amidst the ever-changing times of high school. There is also plenty of creativity, energy, and fun!

Tuesday Afternoons

Life and Lattes is a non-agenda time that runs from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays (much like office hours for a school or counselor). Students are welcome to come have a beverage, work on homework, play board games, and have space to have deeper and smaller community and conversations.

God calls leaders from all ages and abilities. We have opportunities for high school students to serve and invite them to bring their passions and unique skill sets. Our Adult Leaders are a diverse group who all share a passion to help cultivate a safe, open faith space for youth.
