Sermon Notes

Unity and Harmony

Unity and Harmony doesn’t mean we are all thinking and acting in the same way.  It is an agreement that what we believe is most important, which allows us to live with our differences.

  • Humility—It is not thinking less of yourself, just less about yourself. C.S. Lewis
  • The humility demonstrated by Christ—Philippians 2:5–11
    • Jesus took the form of a servant

The Vision of God is that we might be together in Unity.

However, God is the one who made us different so this can be a challenge.  Philippians 2 reminds us that the humility modeled in Jesus is the key to the unity God envisions.

What threatens Unity and Harmony with others?

  • Too much focus on Self
  • Being more concerned about what separates and divides us than what unites us
  • Disconnecting from the Body of Christ
  • Busyness

Humility is the key to find peace and joy in relationship with each other.  Humility was modeled by Jesus.  It is will be key to life in eternity.
